The History of Virginia Cedar
Also called Virginia Juniper (Juniperus Virginiana), this tree has its origins in North America, from Ontario to Florida, where it grows on poor chalky soils. It needs good sunshine and thrives on dry ground thanks to its deep roots. Its growth is slow, and it can grow up to 4 meters in 20 years. An adult tree measures around 15 to 20 meters. Some cedar trees are 200 to 300 years old.
Its red-brown bark is very characteristic.Benefits
Virginia cedar is rich in sesquiterpenes (thuyopsene) and sesquiterpenol (cedrol) well known for their anti-inflammatory properties.
It is an excellent stimulant for vascular and lymphatic circulation. Cedar is used to reduce varicose veins, oedemas and micro cellulite. Use it after an exhausting day, to relieve heavy legs and small localised oedema.
Anecdotally it is said to be "much easier and more practical than keeping your legs up for 1 hour".The essential oil is ideal for reducing cellulite in combination with massage.
Its purifying action is also important, and it helps the skin regenerate, tone and firm up.
